The Bahamian government is investing in infrastructure: Resurfacing the runways to improve capacity at the airport. The new runway on New Providence Island opened 29th June 2005
Now caters for jumbo jets and long haul visitors.

Potential Growth Indicators
Land plots have been rising steadily since 1992 at an average 14% a year with no investment in local infrastructure to speed growth.
With 90% of visitors coming from the US, there is a huge potential for new markets for the Bahamas to attract. The new runway at Nassau international airport allows an increase in airlift as larger planes with longer ranges can easily be accommodated. British Airways fly direct from Heathrow. The Bahamian government is signing agreements with Chinese tour operators to bring tourist investment in from China. These are high value tourists: keen gamblers who are attracted by the casinos, and are potential investors.
